Mill Valley resident of 18 years, Jed Smith is a progressive and pioneering investor in sustainability, healthy living, and education initiatives. Jed’s environmental, philanthropic, and private sector efforts prioritize expanding opportunities for a healthy planet and underserved communities.
For the last 33 years, Jed has been a tech executive, entrepreneur, and then investor, where he paved the way for groundbreaking initiatives and shifting industry standards. Jed then turned his emphasis towards investing in companies focused on societal good – addressing climate change, environmental needs, healthy living, and education initiatives. Jed was the co-founder of Owl Ventures, which became the world's largest education technology venture capital fund focused on leveling the playing field for those who historically have had less access to opportunity.
Over the past 20 years, Jed has focused his efforts on guiding companies and nonprofits on their boards of directors and boards of trustees, building organizations that can achieve successful outcomes with diverse constituencies. Jed is excited to apply those skills to MMWD. He has been a leader in major environmental initiatives, which hold him in good stead to be a powerful steward for our special land and water needs.
